Who is a Tax Resident of Greece?
An individual is considered resident in Greece if he/she has their permanent, main or habitual residence or centre of vital interest in Greece. An individual is also considered a Greek tax resident if they reside continuously in Greece for a period exceeding 183 days, including short term stay outside Greece.
What is the tax year end?
31st December
When are tax returns due?
Individuals must file returns by 30th June following the relevant calendar year.
Is there a personal tax allowance?
Income taxes are charged Net of deductions with no allowance.
What are the tax rates?
Employment income are taxed at progressive rates of between 22% and 45%.
What are the social security rates?
Employees are required to contribute 16% of their gross taxable income for social security payments.
